Defragmenting and performing a Disk Cleanup are important tasks to perform at least every six months depending on the performance of your computer. If your computer is running slow, you may see an improvement if you Defragment and run Dick Cleanup on a more regular basis. It is suggested that you run Disk Cleanup first and then Defragment. Disk Cleanup will delete any temporary unneeded files from your computer’s hard drive. Defragment will re-organize and fix any fragmented files on your hard drive. You may want to a couple of hours to perform this task depending on your computer. How do you do this? Click on your “start” button; go to “All Programs” then “Accessories”. In the “Accessories” folder you will see Disk Cleanup and Defragment.

Computer updates are very important to have current on your computer. Updates keep your computer up to date with all the computers and software they are making today. There are some trusted links for updating in the blogroll on the right-hand side of this page.

Microsoft and Apple updates are safe and good for your computer. Apple software that you may have on your pc or Windows computer is iTunes and QuickTime. Java, Adobe Flash, Acrobat Reader, and Shockwave are also important to keep updated because of their requirement for use for the online Accelerated Reader. Several of these updates will automatically check and ask you if they can be updated and only need your permission.
